Outline of our Center


The Information & Culture Center is the cultural and public affairs section of the Embassy of Japan in Egypt. It hosts a wide range of activities aimed at boosting the friendship and understanding between Egypt and Japan. Our primary role is to promote better understanding of Japan and Japanese culture by providing a wide range of information, educational services and cultural programs for the public.


Facilities


Our center’s facilities include a research library, a multipurpose hall, which accommodates around 100 people, and a reception hall with a wide variety of Japanese cultural products, like dolls, toys and clothes, etc.

Library

The library of the Center houses books in English, Japanese, and Arabic languages, providing information on Japan. The Japanese newspaper is also available at the library. The library has also a lot of information about Japanese universities and scholarships for people who want to study in Japan. The opening hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Sunday through Thursday.


DVD and Videotape Library


The Center has a library for documentary and cultural DVDs and videotapes on various aspects of Japanese life. These DVDs and videotapes can be lent to schools, cultural organizations and clubs. Visitors are available to watch videotapes at the center on the following schedule.

　

Weekly Film Show

　


Cinema Hall

As a means for introducing Japanese culture, life and society to the Egyptian people, the Center screens feature films with Arabic subtitles once a week, usually on Thursdays. Admission is free. You are very welcome to attend our weekly film show every Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Information & Culture Center.

Activities outside of the Center


The Information & Culture Center sometimes organizes cultural activities outside of the Center, so that wide range of Egyptian people can experience and enjoy Japanese Culture. Here you can see staff from our Center visited Egyptian cultural centers, Egyptian primary schools, junior schools and high schools etc… For recent information, please call to the center.
