Masaki NOKE

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Arab Republic of Egypt


Mr. Masaki Noke was appointed as Ambassador of Japan to the Arab Republic of Egypt in July 2018.

Prior to assuming the office, he had been the Director-General of International Peace Cooperation Headquarters at the Cabinet Office under the Prime Minister. He served in the Foreign Ministry as Director-General for Consular Affairs (2015-2017) and Deputy Director-General for Africa as well as for International Cooperation and Global Issues(2010-2012), and in the Cabinet Secretariat as Deputy Director of Intelligence and Research Office(2012-2015).

Mr. Noke also held various overseas positions.
In Africa, he was Japan’s first resident Ambassador in Djibouti (2009-2010) , Counselor of the Japanese Embassy in the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire (1996-1998), simultaneously in charge of Benin, Burkina Faso, Niger and Togo, and regional coordinator of economic cooperation for West Africa.
In Europe, he was Minister at the Embassy in France(2006-2009) and Counselor of the Permanent Mission of Japan to the European Union (1998-2001).

He entered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1982, after graduating from the University of Tokyo (Faculty of Law), and studied also at l’Institut des Hautes Etudes Europeennes in Strasbourg, France.
