Masaki NOKE
Ambassador Extraordinary
and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Arab Republic of Egypt |

Mr. Masaki Noke was appointed as Ambassador of Japan to the Arab Republic of
Egypt in July 2018.
Prior to assuming the office, he had been the Director-General of International
Peace Cooperation Headquarters at the Cabinet Office under the Prime Minister.
He served in the Foreign Ministry as Director-General for Consular Affairs
(2015-2017) and Deputy Director-General for Africa as well as for International
Cooperation and Global Issues(2010-2012), and in the Cabinet Secretariat as
Deputy Director of Intelligence and Research Office(2012-2015).
Mr. Noke also held various overseas positions.
In Africa, he was Japan’s first resident Ambassador in Djibouti (2009-2010) ,
Counselor of the Japanese Embassy in the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire (1996-1998),
simultaneously in charge of Benin, Burkina Faso, Niger and Togo, and regional
coordinator of economic cooperation for West Africa.
In Europe, he was Minister at the Embassy in France(2006-2009) and Counselor of
the Permanent Mission of Japan to the European Union (1998-2001).
He entered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1982, after graduating from the
University of Tokyo (Faculty of Law), and studied also at l’Institut des Hautes
Etudes Europeennes in Strasbourg, France.
