Japan Assists Anticancer Medical Services in Monofeya

Embassy of Japan provides the People of Monofeya with a Mammography Machine-

On Sunday,
January 26th, 2014, Mr. Toshiro Suzuki, Ambassador of Japan to Egypt,
and Dr. Samir Rizkallah, Director of the Harpur Memorial Hospital in Menouf
signed a contract for Japanese Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Projects at the
Embassy of Japan.
The grant
assistance amounting to US$ 100,936 is extended by the Government of Japan for
the purpose of purchasing a mammography machine which will contribute greatly to
improving the medical services for the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer
in Monofeya Governorate.
Promotion of health has long been the priority of Japan’s assistance, viewing
health as one of the fundamentals of human security. The Government of Japan
believes that this support will significantly help increase women’s awareness of
the importance of regular breast examination which enables early discovery of
cancer and increases cure possibilities, also give a lot of women in poverty a
chance to receive proper medical services at low prices and a hope for better
and healthier future.
The grant
is extended under the Japanese Government’s Assistance Scheme for Grassroots and
Human Security Projects, which gives support to Non-profitable Organizations and
NGOs in fields such as health and social care, education, environment and
vocational training. This scheme was launched in Egypt in 1994, and around 150
projects have been implemented to date, totaling about US$ 6.5 million. In
particular, the flexibility and timely manner of the scheme has been greatly and
widely appreciated.
