The Ambassador of Japan Expressed the Intention to Provide Grant Assistance to Three Egyptian NGO projects at the Meeting with H.E. Dr. Ghada Waly, Minister of Social Solidarity

   

 

 

  

 

On 3rd March, Ambassador Mr. Masaki Noke had a meeting with the H.E. Dr. Ghada Waly, Minister of Social Solidarity, and discussed the Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects as support from the Government of Japan to Egyptian NGO projects.
In the FY 2018/19, the Government of Japan has decided to provide grants to three local NGO projects in the fields of revitalization of traditional wooden-craft arts, primary education, and welfare of children with special needs. The signing ceremonies with respective NGOs (recipients) are scheduled to be held in the middle of March.


< Overview of the Grass-Roots Human Security Projects>


1. The Project for Traditional Craft Revitalization in Old Cairo
Open a training center of traditional woodcrafts for youth in Old Cairo and establish an association for local artisans. The project contributes to reviving the tradition and culture of woodcrafts as well as to increasing income of the youth.

2. The Project for Improvement of Primary School in Sayeda Zeinab
Refurbish a primary school in Sayeda Zeinab and offer training programs to its teachers in order to improve the educational environment of the community.


3. The Project for Enhancing Educational Environment for Children with Special Needs in Hadeyek El Kob
Refurbish a rehabilitation center for local children with special needs and offer training programs for its staff at Hadeyek El Koba.

In the meeting, Ambassador Noke and Minister Dr. Waly also shared the view that the Japan’s technical assistance on early childhood development at 50 nursery schools with “Learning through Play” has been contributing to Egypt as a significant educational methodology for small children by enriching their development through playing.
In addition, both sides highlighted that Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers are working in various fields such as education in Egypt, and its grass-root level cooperation has been and will continue to be contributing to the development.
