Report on “Japanese-Language Programs for Foreign-Service Officers and Public Officials”

by Mr. Haytham Mahmoud Ghobashy

The life style in Japan has its unique features. The Japanese family life has its common grounds with the eastern family life in general and Egyptian ones in particular. Family nexus are obviously noticeable, while the Japanese youth are so keen to adopt all western trends in their lives; however the Japanese traditions still have all sublime respect on the daily life.

Living in Kansai center is a wonderful experience. Interaction with several colleagues from all over the world is a real vivid chance. Apart from this point, the Japanese staff at the center was so devoted to help the students at anytime, day and night. It was so difficult to feel homesickness due to the warmth and the dedication that one can receive from the staff of Kansai center. Consequentially this way of treatment reflected on the way of teaching and studying. Teachers are so committed to their duty and assisting the students, plus the abundance of all educational methods are available as well. All these criteria are paving the way to enjoy and get the utmost benefits of learning the Japanese language.

The characteristic of the Japanese are crystallizing in several aspects, however foremost among which the value of ethics that enhance the Japanese society with all fortifications to allow the society to preserve its uniqueness. All values that the Japanese people have been preserving until now created the optimal atmosphere to achieve modern Japan.

All these abovementioned points generate all inner motivation to carry on studying Japanese language; by which one can perceive more and more the culture, tradition and the spirit of the people of Japan.

Unassumingly, if I may have the right to direct a piece of advice to any Egyptian student in Japan, I would like to say that one must seize each moment to learn something new from the Japanese society. I am sure if he or she dedicates their time for learning, they will find something new to learn in each hour there. Bearing in mind that we are having some certain values in common with the Japanese society, therefore exploring what we are sharing will vanish any differences that might loom. With the realization that the nations have deep-rooted history are easily getting along with each other.
