Grassroots Assistance

 

Inauguration of Primary School in Imbaba with Enhanced Educational Environment under Japan’s Grant Assistance Program

     

    

       

 

On Sunday, February 3rd, 2019, Mr. Kotaro Suzuki, Minister of Embassy of Japan in Egypt attended a ceremony to celebrate the inauguration of ‘The Project for Improvement of Public Primary School Education in Imbaba, Giza Governorate’ at El Orouba Primary School. The project was supported by the Japan’s grant assistance (amount: $270,035). The ceremony was also attended by H.E. Ms. Ghada Wali, Minister of Social Solidarity, H.E. Dr. Tarek Shawki, Minister of Education, H.E. General Ahmed Rashed, Governor of Giza and Dr. Hossam Badrawi, Chairman of Takatof Association for Development.
This project brought significant differences in educational environment for students and teachers. Through this project, school buildings and classrooms have been renovated and equipped with effective educational tools to facilitate value-added education. The project also focuses on enhancing interaction between students and teachers, cultivating creativity and developing life-skills through introduction of various extra-curricular activities and trainings.


At the ceremony, Minister Suzuki extended his respect to Takatof Association for Development for its continuous efforts and commitments in improving educational environment in Egypt. He emphasized that education is a priority area of cooperation between Japan and Egypt, and expressed that Japan’s commitment to assist local and grassroots efforts in line with Egyptian government’s nation-wide educational reforms. The Ministers and the Governor also expressed their appreciation for Takatof and Japanese government’s initiatives to enhance quality of education in Egypt, and acknowledged that the government and civil society should work together for the development of the country.

This grant was extended under the Japanese government’s assistance scheme of the “Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots and Human Security Projects” which provides direct support to non-profitable organizations including NGOs in fields such as health, social care, education, environment , vocational training for women’s social participation. Under this scheme, Japan has supported 166 projects since 1994.
