Norihiro Okuda the Ambassador of Japan
Regarding the messages of sympathy from the Egyptian people
I am truly grateful
to receive letters of sympathy from H.E. Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein
Tantawi, Head of the Supreme Council of Armed Forces, addressed to His
Majesty Emperor Akihito and H.E. Mr. Naoto Kan, the Japanese Prime
Minister. I also thank H.E. Mr. Essam Sharaf, the Prime Minister, and
the senior officials of the Egyptian government for sending a number of
messages expressing sympathy and encouragement and for offering
assistance since the earthquake of March 11th, 2011.
I also wish to
express my sincere gratefulness for all the condolences and heartfelt
messages from many Egyptian citizens of all walks of life, the diplomats
of various countries, and foreigners living in Egypt.
More than 250 people
visited the Embassy and wrote down their consolatory words in the book
of condolences at the Embassy of Japan after the earthquake. I would
like to take this opportunity to add that the Embassy of Japan received
about a thousand of messages and letters of condolences by different
ways.
We have already
informed Japanese people of this sympathy, while it was covered by the
Japanese mass media. The Japanese people are deeply moved and are
thankful for the Egyptian people’s feelings towards Japan’s catastrophe.
Even if they are in
sadness, many people in Japan including survivors of the disaster are
mobilizing their wisdom and power, devoting all their desperate efforts
to recover from these challenging circumstances. Japan has been faced
with many difficulties in the past; however, it has overcome each time.
I firmly believe that, receiving such cooperation and sympathy from the
Egyptian people and the international community, Japanese people will
successfully overcome this catastrophe.
On behalf of the
Government and the people of Japan, I would like to reiterate my deep
gratitude and sincere appreciation to the Government and the people of
Egypt, and friends of Japan in Egypt.
In spite of many
difficulties, Egyptians are doing their best to rebuild their country
after the revolution of January 25th, 2011. Japan wishes
Egyptian people a successful completion of the revolution, while it
sincerely hope to cooperate with Egyptians to overcome this hard time.
