 Application Deadline 

 All necessary documents for MEXT Research Students must be received by E-MAIL 
  from 20 April 2023 until on Sunday, 21 May 2023 at 2:00 PM to【 mext-r@ca.mofa.go.jp 

  • Application documents are accepted ONLY BY E-MAIL .
  • All application documents must be in PDF format (clearly legible).
  • Respective document must be attached and sent  in one emailDo not combine PDF files.
  • The total file size must be less than 10MB. If you cannot make the file size smaller, divide the files into 2 emails and specify it when you send emails. Your email will be automatically rejected if the total file size exceeds 10 MB.
  • Incomplete and Unclear applications will NOT be considered.
  • Late application will NOT be considered. We do not accept any documents after the deadline for any reason, therefore please apply in plenty time.

 Minimum Qualifications and Conditions

  • Egyptian Nationals
  • Under the age of 35 (As of April 1, 2024) (born on or after 2 April 1989)
  • Holders of Bachelor / Master / Doctor degree with a minimum average point on 75% / GPA 3 out of 4 (All courses you have enrolled in so far) 
  • Required Language Proficiency (Although it is not required to obtain a qualification, it is highly recommended that you have the same language proficiency as below)
  • English: IELTS 6.0- / TOEFL iBT 79- / CEFR B2-
  • Japanese (Only for Japanese Majors): JLPT N2-
  • Those who currently belong to a university, research institution or a company, and are expected to return to their institution after studying in Japan (Unemployed or freelancers cannot apply)

 Important Information

  • The Embassy of Japan in Egypt will select preliminary 11 candidates approximately through the documents screening, language examinations and interviews.
  • Those who have been selected as preliminary candidates by the embassy will be recommended to MEXT for the second screening. 
  • Please note that the language written examinations can only be conducted at designated venue in Cairo,Egypt on the arranged date only, and It’s not accepted to take the examinations in any other countries. Online examinations are not available.
  • The selection schedules are subject to change or the cancellation without prior notice depending on the situation of the spread of COVID-19.
