 Application Deadline

All the required scanned documents into PDF formats must be sent by email to  mext-uc@ca.mofa.go.jp from 14 April 2024 until 16 May 2024 at 2:00 PM
 

IMPORTANT NOTE:
  • Application documents are accepted ONLY BY EMAIL
  • All application documents must be scanned into PDF format (clearly legible) and send in one email (Do not combine PDF files) however, total file size must be less than 10MB. If you cannot make the file size smaller, send the PDF files into 2 emails and specify it in the email message. Your email will be automatically rejected if the total file size exceeds 10 MB.
  • Incomplete and Unclear applications will NOT be considered.
  • We do not accept any documents after the deadline for any reason, therefore please apply in plenty time. 
 

  Minimum Qualification and Conditions

  • Egyptian Nationals
  • The students those who graduated in the past or will graduate from upper secondary school as of March 2025.
  • Achieving an overall score not less than 90% on 3rd year in Thanaweya Amma. For STEM School not less than 85% on 3rd year. For IB, IGCSE, American school, achieving an overall score equivalent to 90% in Egyptian Thanaweya.  (For those who are currently enrolling in the 3rd year and due to graduate in 2024, we evaluate the total score in 2nd year)
  • Priority will be given to those who completed or will complete upper secondary education in Egypt.
  • Those who become bridges of friendship between Egypt and Japan and who contribute to the development of both countries after study in Japan.

 Important Information

  • 1st screening step: The Embassy of Japan in Egypt will select preliminary candidates through the documents screening, language examinations and interview. The Embassy will recommend the preliminary candidates to Japanese government (MONBUKAGAKUSHO:MEXT) for the second screening.
  • 2nd screening step: Japanese government (MONBUKAGAKUSHO:MEXT) will select the final passing candidates. In the last year, 1 candidate was accepted by the MEXT.
  • Please note that written examinations can only be conducted at designated venue in Cairo, Egypt on the arranged date only. It’s not accepted to take the examinations on another day or outside of Egypt. Online examinations are not available.
  • The 1st year of the scholarship is enrolling the Japanese preparatory course for 1 year (unless the one who has enough japanese knowledge to study the academic field), then enrolling at a university in Japan designed by MEXT if the student successfully complete the Japanese preparatory course.
