Japan’s KUSANONE Project Spread Smiles in Al-Manial area

On Thursday, October 25, 2023, H.E. Mr. Oka Hiroshi, Ambassador of Japan to Egypt witnessed the successful completion of the Japanese grassroots grant assistance (KUSANONE) project. This project provides a safe and secure educational environment for children with disabilities in Al-Manial area, implemented by Al-Malak Al-Kebly Charity Association in the grant amount of approximately US$99,000.
The project contributes to a better educational environment of Al-Manial area by renovating the facility of an Intellectual Education Primary School, expanding the number of students it can accept in a safer environment, and enabling it to offer a curriculum that meets national standards for primary intellectual education programs, including music and art education. During the ceremony, Mr. Sameh Fouad, Chairman of Al-Malak Al-Kebly Charity Association and other speakers expressed their sincere appreciation to Japan’s assistance to support the children in Al-Manial area. Ambassador Oka emphasized the pivotal role of civil society in Egypt's educational development and expressed his respect for the role of Egyptian NGOs in listening to the voices of local inhabitabts and identifying actual needs and demands. He also expressed his willingness to continue to actively provide support to Egypt through achieve the aims of KUSANONE program, which is to achieving a world where no one is left behind and all people can live with peace of mind by “promptly” holding out a hand to “every single person” in “every corner.”
This project came within the framework of Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (KUSANONE), which provides direct and small-scale financial support to non-profit organizations including non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in the local communities. Japan has extended approximately US$10 million in Egypt since 1994, supporting 176 projects throughout Egypt in a wide range of sectors including education, health, water and sanitation, vocational training, women empowerment and special need support.
