"Thank you and see you again!"

Dear Egyptian friends,

I would like to inform you, with my deepest sadness, that I will be leaving Egypt on November 2, 2024, upon completion of my assignment as Ambassador of Japan to Egypt.

It has been a tremendous honor and pleasure for Rieko and myself to have been able to play a part in strengthening the longstanding friendly relations between Japan and Egypt, which have reached its historically highest level over the last three years.

Prime Minister of Japan Kishida and President El Sisi agreed to elevate the relations between Japan and Egypt to "strategic partnership" in 2023. The two countries are now cooperating, for peace and stability in the regions of the Middle East and Africa, as strategic partners and sharing the vision of "Free and Open Indo Pacific",

The partnership between Japan and the League of Arab States has also been significantly strengthened through the Prime Minister Kishida's visit to HQ of League of Arab States in 2023, which was followed up by 3rd Meeting of Japan/Arab Foreign Ministers in 2023 and 5th Meeting of Japan/Arab Economic Forum in 2024 as well as the visit of Secretary General of LAS to Japan in 2024.

We would like to sincerely thank all the Egyptian friends for the warm support and friendship extended to us throughout three years of our stay in Egypt. This has been an incredibly fulfilling and rewarding journey for us and we will forever cherish in our hearts the pleasant memories of the days we have spent in this beautiful country.

I am confident that the strong bond of trust that uniquely characterizes the relations  between Japan and Egypt will continue to be strengthened by the upcoming younger generations of the two countries. I am also confident that our friendship will continue to flourish even after 100 years to come!

We wish you good health and happiness. I sincerely hope that our paths will cross again in the near future.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Egypt
