Conferment of the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star upon H.E. Dr. Mohamed Maait

On February 16, the conferment ceremony of the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star, upon former Minister of Finance H.E. Dr. Maait was held at the residence of Ambassador of Japan. This award, bestowed by His Majesty the Emperor, recognizes and appreciates Dr. Maait’s achievements and outstanding contributions to strengthening relations between Japan and Egypt.
Dr. Maait served as Egypt's Minister of Finance and Chairman of the Universal Health Insurance Authority from 2018 to 2024. Dr. Maait played a crucial role in the issuance of the first-ever Samurai bonds in Egyptian history, successfully raising approximately 500 million US dollars in March 2022. Dr. Maait also promote the implementation of Universal Health Coverage, a project that Japan has supported since its early stages.
At the conferment ceremony, Ambassador IWAI introduced Dr. Maait’s achievements and extended his sincere appreciation and congratulations on the award.
