2020/2/18

On Monday, February 17th 2020, H.E. Mr. NOKE Masaki, Ambassador of Japan to Egypt and Dr. Ahmed Shawki, Treasurer of Takatof Association for Development, signed a Grant Contract for Japanese Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots and Human Security Projects.
The grant assistance amounting to US$89,933 is extended by the Government of Japan to Takatof Association for Development for the purpose of improving educational environment in two preschools in Imbaba, Giza. The project enables to establish three new preschool classrooms as well as to upgrade the school facilities.
Embassy of Japan collaborated with Takatof Association for Development both in the year 2016 and 2018 to enhance educational environment of primary schools in Beni Suef and Giza, respectively, which brought significant positive impacts on children, teachers and parents. This time, the project focuses on preschool education and its sanitary environment. The grant will be utilized to set up a whole new preschool section in Madinat El Omaal School and repair and upgrade preschool toilets as well as to open one additional class in Omar Makram School.
At the signing ceremony, Dr. Shawki expressed his appreciation for the third time collaboration with the Government of Japan. Ambassador Noke stressed the importance of role of civil societies in the field of educational development. Ambassador also stated the importance of early childhood education and noted that children develop their creativity, learn disciplines and acquire how to interact with others through preschool education. They acknowledged that this support in the field of primary education will significantly contribute to develop human resources that create the nation’s future.
This grant is extended under the Japanese government’s assistance scheme for Grassroots and Human Security Projects, which provides support to non-profitable organizations and NGOs in fields such as health, social care, education, environment and vocational training. This scheme was launched in Egypt in 1994, and 167 projects have been implemented to date, totaling about US$ 9 million.
