2025/2/11
On Tuesday, February 11, 2025, His Excellency Mr. IWAI Fumio, Ambassador-designate of Japan to Egypt, and Dr. Bahaa Youhanna, Vice Chairman of Board of Trustees of the Kings Sons Association for Comprehensive Development, signed a grant contract under the framework of Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects (“KUSANONE” project).
The grant, amounting to approximately USD 64,500, will be extended by the Embassy of Japan to improve the healthcare environment around the project site in Menia Governorate. This funding will equip El Amal Medical Center, which is the only medical facility in the region, with medical machines that will allow residents to undergo the essential medical examinations at an affordable price.

During the signing ceremony, Ambassador Iwai expressed his pleasure at the first cooperation with Kings Sons Association for Comprehensive Development and his hope that the project will be successfully completed to improve the healthcare environment of the people in Menia Governorate.

Dr. Bahaa conveyed his sincere appreciation for Japan’s “KUSANONE” project and showed strong commitment to the successful implementation of the project. He emphasized that Kings Sons Association will remain committed to serving the community and working to achieve its noble goals and will continue to strive to provide the best services to citizens in Menia Governorate. He also expressed the dedication of the association to make this project the first of other successful projects between the association and the Embassy of Japan, and that we will contribute together to building a better future for Egypt.

The “KUSANONE” project is an important part of Japan’s development cooperation efforts, providing targeted financial support to non-profit organizations, including NGOs, to address local community needs. Since its inception in 1994, Japan has contributed over USD 11 million to fund 181 projects in Egypt, in collaboration with 130 NGOs. These projects span key sectors such as education, healthcare, water and sanitation, vocational training, women’s empowerment, and support for individuals with special needs.

The Embassy of Japan encourages NGOs to submit applications for new projects under the “KUSANONE” framework. For more information, please visit the Embassy’s website at:
